The famous VMAs (video music awards) changed their award name from “Moonman” to “Moonperson.”

In an interview, MTV president Chris McCarthy said the iconic “Moonman” is out, and the “Moon Person” is in. This change came after MTV eliminated all its gender specific categories because they wanted a more “gender neutral reputation.” That is the same reason for the award name change. “Why should it be a man?” says Chris McCarthy.

I personally do not agree with this change. Although not many people asked for this, MTV decided out of nowhere it needed to be changed. This broke the hearts of many people who have been watching the MTV VMAs through their entire childhoods. The first VMAs was in 1984 and the change was made in 2017. Those are years to remember.
